Generator project

I finally figured out what was wrong with the new 6.5 motor. A gasket was on backwards! And I went on a wild goose chase trying to figure out a simple problem. For those that don't know, this was a new engine that I welded the shaft a half inch longer and then tapered it to adapt to a generator. It's running great now!

I bought a like new go-cart with a 6,5 hp engine for half what the guy paid for it. Wouldn't run right. The two nuts holding the carb in place had worked loose. Guy sold the go cart because the engine wouldn't run right. Easy fix.
Grandkids used it for 10 years. They out grew it. I sold it for what I paid for it.

I bought a new short block 3HP Tecumseh, if I recall.

It refused to start. Every now and then it would kick back and jerk the starter rope handle out of my hand.

After several hours searching, discovered the exhaust port was completely sealed off with leaked aluminum from the casting process. Chipped it out, it started first pull!

I was probably about 12-13 at the time.

My truck driver pulled the starter rope on my grain auger for about a half hour before he finally came and got me because the motor wouldn't start. I turned the kill switch to the run position and it started on the second pull. He thought he was just getting too old to pull the rope hard enough.

I guess that sometimes a engine with a problem can slip through! Apparently not every engine is tested or the guy doing the test was having a bad day.

Got me one time. I spent a half hour working on a transfer switch. Because it would not transfer. Then I noticed the transfer motor switch was off. Turned it back on it worked. Told the guy no charge and left.

Bought a muffler once that had no openings in the baffle plate. Bought some Champion spark plugs that the center electrode would drop into the ceramic out of sight.
