Bad solenoid

Drove the 8n on to the trailer, went a few miles down the road , unloaded it, hooked up a bush hog, loaded it. Got home unloaded it, backed off trailer, cut it off , hooked up pto and tractor won't do anything.... No click, nothing. Got power to battery side of solenoid but while turning key nothing on starter side. I guess it gave up after starting the tractor several times just fine? Seems odd it just stopped working? Got a guy coming to buy it after church, I better fix it this morning, even if it's 21 degrees out there!! Will be in the yard, got 2 cubs in the barn..... Non runners.

You are kidding, 21 degrees in Alabama and 37 degrees in Terre Haute?
Climate change this time of the year.

John..... Got 3 different thermometers all read the same. We live in a little valley. Always colder and hotter here (8-10 degrees)than folks just a few miles away. Leaves change color later. And daffodils bloom later than the ones in town, 3 miles away.

Had to replace one on Co-op E5 as original posts were stripped and couldn't get them tight enough for good contact. Got new one from NAPA labeled for 6V. Nothing. Replaced with one I found at Blains Farm and Fleet, put it on and she fired right up. They can be bad out of the box too.

Replacement solenoids are of poor quality. Nowhere near the quality the factory ones were. But, most of the factory ones have been changed out by now. Chances are, your replacing one, that has already been replaced before.
My point is, the replacement ones just aren't going to last. I realize your sending this one down the road, and would just like it to work now. But on your other tractors you keep, just be prepared for the burden of replacing them, or jump the posts with a screw driver. Mine get the, jump the posts with screwdriver, and the re-manufacturers get, the FINGER!!
I have had alot of trouble with re-manufactured key switches and/or starter buttons too. Same deal.
