Finally got around to building the dirt side for the Ol girl . Now I can haul an even load without it spilling off .

Had about the same deal on my old F800. I found that when you dump the load, the weight of the dirt really stresses the vertical stakes holding the side boards on at the tailgate end of the platform. I have had them snap right off. So if you have extra unused stake pockets near the back end, stick a extra vertical support on each side

Looks good. We had a couple of ours fixed like you did this one. Dad got pulled and was a lucky recipient of the ticket for not having a tailboard of any kind hauling sand clay. It's ashamed as tough as these old trucks are that it's gotten where it's impossible to get parts for them. Especially brake parts. I have 2 trucks now that I can't find parts for them.

Probably not a bad idea Ive had pretty good luck although the one side did break at one point thats why Im redoing it but i think that was mostly from being hit with the skid loader before it came to live with me . It had a pretty rough life on the dairy

What kind of trucks are you working on ? This truck has been awfully handy to have around . Im going to haul sand this week and maybe in the next few weeks cinders .

Got a 1965 GMC 4000 that needs a master cylinder and a 1975 F 600 that needs a brake booster. Both parts are apparently made out of unobtanium now. The company that made all of these master cylinders has quit making them. Having to send off booster somewhere to have it rebuilt. Said it'd take 1-2 months to get it back. Was only option we could find. Hope to have it back by planting time in March. We've got 3 more trucks but it takes all of them at picking time to put corn in grain bins.

I had do replace the master cylinder on this one a few years ago the local carquest was able to get it just a few days

I tried them,NAPA, the local heavy truck supplier and some of the other local parts houses. Got my friend who runs a automotive repair business helping. He tried all the hard to find sources he deals with with no luck also. Ordered a master cylinder 6 weeks ago online and still haven't seen it. Had a '79 Chevy C60 that needed a brake drum but it's obsolete now also. Everyone is telling me they're parts system stops at 1980 now.

Well lets go Captain dip sh*+ will soon have it so expensive to buy gas these old trucks will all go to scrap anyway :

Our local Carquest has merged with Auto Zone. Use to you could get about anything from them. Has this happened in your area or is this just a local regional thing ?

We rebuilt it back in the early summer but it's to worn out to work. Brake side works fine but clutch side is the problem.

I've had no problems buying parts for all my old stuff. Just got a new master brake cylinder for the 64 Chevy this summer through Rock Auto.
The only exception has been a front brake drum for my IH Loadstar 1600. No luck finding a new one of those anywhere.

International parts, could be tough to find 25 years ago I had
an old 1210 -8 pickup and even a simple u joint took a little
doing to come up with wasnt hard but it took a little bit .

I restore and work on old IHC trucks. restored 2 1974- 200 trucks from the ground up parts you either have to buy used stuff and redo it or make it yourself. I got4 of the 1974 200 trucks all 4-WD 2 with 4-speeds and 2 automatics.
Earlier this year I bought a 1976 Scout traveler. This is the longer one it had been wrecked in it life and rather than fix it right they body filled it in to the point it was falling off. Called a place in Ohio to check on quarters got lucky they had a set of NOS setting there.
The place in Ohio acquired some of the tooling from IHC when they went under they can make the orginal floor sheets for the PU'S.
The stuff is out there just have to keep looking for it.

IHC Pickups, II think that what you refer to as the "Traveler" was actually the Travelall. A good friend had one.

I rebuild cylinders myself like the old days. Sometimes get NOS parts from ebay, maybe a couple pieces and buy the cups. Still have a hone.
