(quoted from post at 09:25:47 11/10/21) How does one truck stop running out of fuel become a 'national diesel shortage'?

I didn't see him even mention a "national diesel shortage". But it does show that there are problems, and it's obvious no one seems to be doing anything to improve the situation.

That ought go well with the 72,000 truck drivers said to be out of work because of some kind of driver drug testing....something new or bad lineup of potential drivers???? Supply problems said to be lack of trucks, not contaner port volume problems. Always something to keep a monkey wrench in the gear train.....keeping people on the edge of their seats making stupid (calculated) decisions based on fear!

Finding fuel, fuel at a decent price, or delivery problems could be.......Surely one can understand the price differential when crossing the Western border. I had 2 100 gallon tanks on my rock bucket. I remember when Diesel was a buck a gallon and went up 10 cents a gallon. I felt that some sucker dipped his hand in my pocket and stole a 20 dollar bill.....a good part of my daily take at the time.

Fear also makes people make good decisions, like not going to wild concerts, going the other way when a bear is coming down the trail.Ignoring danger signs will result in a bad decision sometimes.I didn't run out of toilet paper or fuel when they were in short supply.

Yeah but I am talking about deliberately induced fear to achieve a specific reaction and usually financially or political goal.

(quoted from post at 10:40:11 11/10/21) I thought the idea was let the customers buy all they want. Just put the price so high that they dont want much??

Just show a good price on the marquee.
That gets them to the pumps.
Then they take what they can get there and maybe go across the road for the rest.

Bubba stayed up all night studying. He couldn't pass the drug test. If anyone knows about drugs, it's BUBBA.

I have a feeling this will induce more fuel sales, rather than reduce number of gallons sold. How many people you think will hit multiple stations in one day, stocking up and topping things off and rat holing it in fuel containers thinking that in the future there will be more price hikes, and future lower gallon amounts allowed to purchase?????

How would the average person know what is what? My opinion is the Boy Scout motto simply Be Prepared.Everyone needs some basics to live no reason not to have a reasonable supply of those things on hand.I like to have at least a years supply of non perishable on hand no reason not to stock up big time now in the era of rising prices and shortages.I bought a whole lot of ammo about 5 years ago, glad I have it and if I wanted to sell would make a big profit today.

You didn't read the attached picture?

> How do you figure they are out of fuel when they will allow you to buy 60 gallons.

I wouldn't expect them to ration fuel unless they're running short.

> You think they might be limiting sales because they are having a hard time finding fuel on the wholesale level.

The article this picture came from says the other truck stops in Kingman don't seem to have a problem. I wonder if they got caught up in a price war and found themselves short as a result. The normal reaction to running short on fuel is simply to jack the price up so customers go elsewhere. Of course, if a truck stop doesn't have any fuel customers it doesn't have customers for food and other stuff that's actually profitable.

Had a family member worked at a Texas Fina refinery in the 70's during the shortage. The plant was running at a idle and the storage tanks were full and no place to store gas. And they said we could only buy 10 gallons at a time. Some stations would sell all you wanted and when they sold out locked the doors and went fishing. LOL

Good Morning John, hope you get to Flywheelers again and visit me like a few years ago COME ON DOWN

Ohhhhhhhhh for the past 3 or so years when gas was fairly low and stable and like ONE HALF what it is now then suddenly starting around the turn of the year SOMETHING HAPPENED AND IT LIKE DOUBLED IN THE PAST MONTHS grrrrrrrrr

Of course the President DOES NOT set gas prices HOWEVER GOVERNMENT POLICIES DO AFFECT Supply,,,,,,Investment,,,,,,,Drilling,,,,,,,Oil Leases,,,,,,,,,Pipelines,,,,,,,,,,,,etc etc etc which affects Supply and Prices and all I can say is prior policies kept it stable and low then ALL OF A SUDDEN different policies made it double GRRRRRRRRRRRR lol

Of course all are free to like or dislike current policies and not be concerned or care that gas has doubled for whatever reasons and are entitled to THEIR OPINION WHICH I RESEPCT AND DEMAND THE SAME IN RETURN but since it was stable and low the past years, then all of a sudden doubled,,,,,,,, it is MY OPINION government policy changes (Drilling, Investment, leases, pipleines, Supply) JUST MIGHT POSSIBLY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT ??????? Ya think ???????? or did policy changes not matter whatsoever ????

I liked the policies when gas and inflation was lower and sure others do not and prefer the current policies affecting supply and investment and drilling etc., (thats their right and opinion) but we can all hope and pray for America yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

God Bless America

Bingo, John.

Anyone who believes that prices are not affected by an administration that is openly hostile to fossil fuels is simply out of touch with reality.
