Talk about boots in a tire

The thread below reminded me of something I did a few years ago.
51 Case VAC tire had a bad split.
I did not put a boot in it, but I did use a boot lace.
Lasted a couple of years and was still holding when I found some good used tires.
This tire is now 8 feet deep in my pond with a couple of others to provide young catfish some cover from bass.
Poor man's tire fix.

I did one . Couldnt find a used one ran long enough for me to find a used tire was on the front of my loader tractor to . Ran a piece of 1/4 inch thick belting contact cemented that down then bolted it in then I used white silicone along the edges of the thick belting next I laid a piece of inner tube over the belting contact cement that in place

Have never seen that technique before. Assume you had to bust tire off the rim to accomplish it. Great idea until you can get new tires.

Hey Richard,

That is an excellent weave job! Hard to believe it lasted that long....

Or, you could fill them full of foam. Not that expensive stuff, just drill
some holes in the sides and use spray foam expanding insulation!

Saw something similar done on a skidder tire. Guy put a gash in an almost new tire. Bunch of carriage bolts and part of an old tire sidewall. Ran it for years.

Nice stitching job. If the bandage was removed from my lower back a sight sight like that is probably what will be exposed. Or at least that is what it feels like.
