Like a lot of people sometimes my repairs save me money and sometimes not so much.this time I came out smelling like a rose so to speak.my wifes f-150 check engine light was on,and the fuel pump was acting up.mechanic said not enough fuel pressure on the right side of the engine but didnt go as far as diagnosing the exact cause, possibly fuel pump or something else.600-1200 bucks depending on what it was.so I told him I would change the pump myself and Bring it to him for the check engine light (hes a close friend and gets plenty of my business when its something I cant handle)the old pump ended up being bad AND had a lifetime warranty on it!So my labor was the only thing Im out of plus the check engine light hadnt come back on either (knock on wood)

Nothing ventured nothing gained....or lost. I have used that as my guiding light seemingly my entire life and it has steered me well throughout the pitfalls of life. I believe its easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission since the giving authority tries to think of every possible reason to object. If it's done, and especially if it was successful, they just have a mouth full of cotton balls!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO

Years ago I bought an older truck and it had a cutout above the fuel pump in the box. The previous owner used the cutout piece and pop riveted it in place. I always use a piece of plywood in the bed so it was not a problem at all.

I removed the bed 6 bolts but its a crew cab so cab was still partially in the way.I now know theres enough slack on the hoses and wiring to drop the tank enough to see and undo all connections.sure was easier working from the top though
