9N fan backwards

How in the world did my fan get on backwards when it only goes on one way? Its riveted to a hollow bore yoke that bolts to the engine. How can I turn that around without grinding off the rivets and drilling holes so I can turn it around? I'm going after it now and keep you posted but comments would be welcome humor.

Probably a blower fan. If thats what it is, I wouldnt
mangle it. Dont see those too often. Take it off and
sell it if you dont want it.

As they said, a pusher fan and even if
you do turn it around it will still blow
the same direction but less efficiently.

Buy a fan and replace that one. Then you will have both
types. Years ago we had dozers without cabs and we
changed the fans in fall to draw the air towards the
operator. This was our heat. Summer we wanted it to blow
towards the radiator and away from operator. This could
be what someone has done to your tractor.

If you took it off and turned it around it would still blow air the same way. Anyway, a pusher fan
is a good thing in the summer, maybe not so nice in the winter.

Pusher fans are great for helping to keep the front mount distributor of the old N's dry, in inclement weather.

I noticed it was a pusher fan when it started heating over. Will a pull fan fix that?

You likely have a plugged radiator, stuck thermostat or other problem. It is very much unlikely it is the fault of the fan. First place I'd check; is the exterior of the radiator clean? If you have been brush hogging or such the fan side of the radiator could be plugged with debris, seeds, etc.. Oil leaks will help dust stick to the fins.

Nope, pushers cool just fine. If you do decide to change it out at some point, don't throw out the pusher. Though not rare, they are not real common, and somebody would want it.

Many causes for overheating. Start by looking at what Jim.ME mentioned. Plugged radiator is probably the number one reason. May "look" clean, but use a blow gun and carefully blow air the opposite way the fan moves it.

rue, and I have also found radiator tubes clogged inside radiator and here, where the red is hot and the rest of radiator has clogged tubes & no flow. New radiator fixed it. The red protrusion to left side of IR picture is the warm alternator.
