Metering valve question

Have a friend with a Giant Vac ,D3400 Hercules , Stanadyne pump. He needs the vac right now for leaf season, then it will sit til this time next year. What can be added to the fuel that will keep the metering valve from sticking? Pump rebuilt in 2019 with all the latest updates. No water, guy takes impeccable care of his stuff. Valve was not stuck bad, but did take about 20 minutes working it while submerged in fuel before the spring would pull it open. He has been burning on-road fuel since the rebuild. Thanks Fritz

I've used Howes fuel treatment and it seems to work pretty good. I've heard of people adding 2cycle mix oil to their fuel. My opinion would be to start and run that machine periodically during the off season to prevent such problems

I use howes and 2 stroke oil. In equal parts. Using twice what howes recommend. Just before I store my diesel pulling tractors for the winter.

I put 2oz of Howes and 2oz 2 stroke oil to every 5 gallons of diesel I buy for my 3 small diesels. My leaf machine only runs 2 1/2 months each year with no issues. I only use about 70 gallons of fuel a year. If it were mine, I would definitely treat the last couple of tanks each year.
