Good day everyone.
Just wanted to say hi to the forum. A little background about me, I grew up helping my grandpa with his Ford Workmaster 601. I'm not sure which year it was.
Since then I picked up a Ford 8n, propane powered.
I'll have to research the year. [color=lightgrey:c46e5e8478] Its a front distributor.[/color:c46e5e8478]
CORRECTION: Its a side mount distributor
I use it for shredding the property. The 8n has a lot less power than the diesel powered 601, but it does the job. I'm always amazed when I check the oil on the propane 8n. It looks like the day I put it in, always clean.
The shredder is a bit large for the lift to keep up, so my next install is a set of height adjuster chains, (on order) to relieve some of the pressure. Everyone I talked to about the propane engine told me that they were prone to overheating. Which this one did. I found a water pump at tractor supply in the clearance isle for $20, so I thought I'd give that a try. It hasn't overheated since. So far I'm very happy with the tractor. I do wish propane wasn't as expensive as it is now, but it looks like gas and diesel are catching up.
There are a few things missing from years of use, like the fuel level gauge. I'd love to find a print out or a picture of one, so I'd know at least what it looked like, if I should ever feel like constructing a replacement.
