I doubt I could have gotten two full size tractors on, but one and a lawn mower fits nicely.

Need chains instead of those straps. First time someone pulls out and you have to get on the brakes that, tractor
is gonna be up in the truck bed, That little stop bar on the front of the trailer will not stop that tractor.

I made it out to my buddies farm successfully and got everything unloaded. Worked for about 5 hours and remembered I had to pick the kids up at school, so had to knock off early. Tomorrow Ill go back to finish but will leave the tractor and mower there. Ill be bringing back his Jubilee to rebuild the carb, change the hydraulic fluid and chase down some electrical gremlins. Definitely agree with chains and ratchet binders. They are on the must get list.

Looks good to me,nice ride height, weight transfer hitch doing its job. Don't be afraid of straps, just
make sure they are rated for the load and watch for sharp edges. There are thousands of trucks,
hauling millions of pounds of freight everyday on the highways.

This is the first time Ive used a weight transfer hitch and it took me a minute to get it adjusted right, but once set properly, it makes a significant difference. Since the trailer is new, I upgraded the brake controller to a Redarc. Its a nice unit. All you can see is the control knob which is mounted in the dash. The model is mounted under the dash.

Agreed. There are straps manufactured and rated for that purpose. The load looks balanced, I guess the lawn mower could have gone up front perpendicular to the trailer( or in the bed of the truck) but then the 1010 may have been back too far and he would have been accused of the tail wagging the dog. Honestly I think there needs to be a debate to the engine in that truck??? 350 or 454? Transmission? 4l80e? Just kidding.

Is that mower a 400? I had one for years and
it took an F935 with a 72 cut to replace it
when I took on more to mow. Now I'm thinking
aout trading it for a 1600

Its a 420. I bought it thinking it had a no spark condition and ended up rebuilding the engine. I put a ton of work into it but now its a pretty good mower. It also does ok in my garden. Only issue is a lack of ground clearance for cultivating.

I did not know they made a brake controller like that, NICE.

I had a 94 like that it needed boat loads of money thrown at it and like a drunk sailor I went all in. After a complete front end rebuild including steering gear it was the best steering truck I have ever driven. I had to replace all the AC including the evaporator in the dash. All the line fittings galled are I could not get them apart its sort of a common issue with them. The 350 was sort of gutless and the seat I could not stand you set up to straight in it. The trans never gave me a issue and was the best shifting one I have ran across (700R)

I sold it to a cuzz he drives it everyday. Yes it likes to eat maybe 11/12 MPG... The guy I got it from claimed much better but I never could squeeze more out of it.

Saying that straps are no good is totally misleading. No you cannot substitute a 5/16 chain for a three inch strap. Your tractor would be on top of your truck in a crash.

Speaking of straps being no good, last night I had a brand new one get cut on my new tedder within a
couple miles of being on I-70, in a construction zone, in the rain... Threw chains on and drove the rest
of the 2 hour drive home without issue... I think from now on, straps will only be used on hay for me...

People that do any amount of hauling put sleeves over their straps.

Always a lot of talk about using straps. OSHA does not allow a chain to be used for any lifting. Actually, never even saw a chain in in the plant where I worked.

(quoted from post at 15:19:27 10/21/21) You might want to get on down the road with that rig. YTDOT and Barney will be riding in here any minute.

You called that right! Didn't take long for the safety Nazis to show up to rip into a man proud of his equipment. Good grief. And to think that some of these guys make fun of facebook.
