Tractor tire and implement tubes

Is anyone else having problems with new tractor and implement tubes ? Having a bunch of new tires that were installed this year with the tube ripping at the seam or where the valve stem attaches to tube coming apart. Took one out of a 40 year old tire and the tube in it is at least 3 x thicker. I have been getting the new tubes from local tire dealer but this is getting ridiculous. I told him with all the work he's done this year, we better be on the Christmas card list. Maybe even the fruit basket list.

My local tractor tire dealer, Stinnett at Lowry City, MO. told me that they had to go entirely to domestic tubes. The Chinese tubes they had been selling had cost them a fortune in warranty service. They went strictly with Firestones made here. The price is double the import but to me half as much $ spent on junk is just throwing it away. gm

Yes, they're made of cheaper material, almost like a plastic.

For tractor rears your best bet is a Firestone "natural rubber" tube. Accept no substitutes unless you are desperate and plan on replacing it again.

I have had much better results from tubes labeled "butyl rubber" on the shelf at the farm supply stores for the small tires.

If you put a tube in a tubeless rim that had a .825 valve stem, you need to use a plastic valve stem thimble in the hole. The old tubes , as you noticed, have enough meat in this area to withstand the sharp edges. Another possibility is either your tire guy or his supplier has dry-rotted tubes in their inventory. Storing them in the bag is no guarantee against deterioration. The above is assuming that during operation the stems are subjected to being bashed by clods of dirt or branches or some other trauma.

Needed some tubes for my 5000. Wanted good tubes. 38 tires.

Bought Firestone radial tubes...but found they offered 2 versions. Imported and American made.

The American made weighed 3lbs. more than the imported. I'm guessing thicker rubber.

$20 more, but I bought the American.
