Moving corn for deer

Had several people want to buy corn to feed the deer. It's hard for me to believe the amount of money that some spend on hunting but I guess they may feel the same way about me fixing and using old tractors. Like usual, it took longer to set up and clean up than it did to load all of it up. Felt good though to hear some of the equipment running instead of having to be in a repair mode. Lol.

In MN it's illegal to feed the deer near anywhere your going to hunt, considered baiting. A few years ago in the spring the snow was still deep, and the deer looked hungry, so I put out some corn for them. I watched a doe come and eat for a few minutes, then walk away 25 yards and throw it up! I called the local game and fish rep at the DNR, he said That's why you shouldn't be feeding the deer! It's just like feeding too much candy to kids! The deer in our area don't normally get any corn, too far north for it to grow well. There are usually lots of big round hay bales sitting around in the winter/spring, they eat a lot of that.

Here in MO near is with in range of being able to shoot the deer which means 500 plus yards or in other words pretty much any place on the person land. Plus this year we cannot put out salt licks due to CWD

that makes sense--I guess here in the Berkshire mountains it would be more like 100 yards---although you can shoot deer in a patch of growing corn

A corn crop is not baiting it is a crop as per the law here in MO. Or in other words you can plant corn someplace and hunt over it but you cannot just pour corn on the ground and hunt over it

I think even a 1/4 mile away if it's on a trail that leads to where you're hunting. But there are no restrictions on salt or mineral blocks. We use the brown mineral blocks.

in Manitoba must be 300 yards away from bait. we can't even put in bait crops. if you get caught planting plots in the woods for the purpose of shooting deer you could get some hefty fines. You can make hay fields and leave the second cut or third standing and hunt it though.
