I have been offered a JD 314 with a mower deck, snow blower and a rototiller. It does not run, according to my contact. I have not seen it.
I'm tempted, but I do not need another project ($). But for the price, free, what do I do?
Anyone care to comment on the pros and cons for a 314?

Go get it! We bought a dead Cub Cadet for $50 a few years ago, I checked it over, seemed like something I could get going. I didn't try to jump the solenoid at the sellers place, for fear if it started he might back out. When we got home I jumped the solenoid and it started, my wife got on the internet, pretty soon she came out and said, the most common problem is the wire to the headlights breaks and blows a fuse. That was it! Fixed the wiring and went over it in general, used it a couple of years but didn't like it, when we found another Husqvarna we sold the Cub at a good profit!

Seems like a lot of stuff to all be free so if it were me I'd have to see it but thats the way I am. I have a 318 I bought in 1989 and the 314's were around then also so they have some age on them. Don't know what there is for parts but I just bought a new switch for mine off of eBay so may still be easy to find parts.

Today's Featured Article - A Farmall Restoration Story - What's Been Done So Far - by Sean Brinston. This is a story of my first real tractor restoration. My name is Sean Brinston and I was 15 almost 16 at the time of this.My neighbour directly across the road who I had helped with hay all the time had this tractor sitiing at his house for what I thought was 6 years. Finally I got the money and courage to ask him. I phoned him and he said it was already sold, eight years ago! ... [Read Article]
