Fuel injector maintenance

My 2008 Newholland tractor with 2700 hours stopped running on me back in July just got it back yesterday. It needed new injectors was why it died on me.i sent it to the local dealership.after installing the new injectors they noticed the head was cracked on the outside oil was seeping a little amount of oil.it was originally a broom tractor on a paving crew. They guess it was over heated numerous times from plugging the radiator with dust and recycle asphalt dust. They say injectors should of been replaced at 1200 hours part of a maintenance thing. I have never heard of this a couple of my old fifty year old massey Ferguson's still have the original injectors as far as i know. I wonder if being over heated a few times weakened the injectors just seems a little off to me but im not a diesel expert.

I agree Steve ive never heard of doing this. Thought maybe I was missing something. Almost sounds like there trying to create work.thats why i wanted to ask here on this site.i know there is alot of good knowledge here

If you use good fuel and don't overheat it injectors should last a long time much more than 1200 hours! I suspect the overheating is what caused the problem. Shutting off an engine when it's hot is a known cause of cracking heads, the owners manual with our JD says always idle it a few minutes before shutting it off. If you kill the engine when it's working hard, start it immediately and let it idle a few minutes.

My '91 JD 4255 has over 11,500 hrs on original fuel injectors. I had engine overhauled due to failed lower liner seals last Summer & injectors were tested at that time.
