Leaking Radiator

Well CRAP!! I got the Oliver 550 back together getting ready to paint it to sell and now the radiator is leaking. My first thought is to dump some black pepper in it and call it good, but there is a guy in the tractor club I belong to that is interested in it and I feel I should fix it right. What to do???

Where is it leaking ? Ive use jb weld or quick steel with great success. Otherwise youll have to have it fixed right and hopefully you make enough to cover the extra cost of the repair

If your going to sell it you probably should get it fixed the expensive way, if it was mine to use I would put some Bar's stop leak in it, I've had good luck with it.

Do you have a price in mind, and have you offered it at that price? If not, replace the radiator and raise the price.

Honesty is always the best policy. If you have a serious buyer, tell him what happened, work something out.

But personally I would not dope it up and knowingly try to unload it, especially to someone you know. Just my opinion...

Like SV said, JB weld works quite well. I have used it on 2 tractor radiators and 1 vehicle. As with everything else, surface prep is everything.

A quote from you post is ..........I feel I should fix it right so I'm not sure why there's a question as to what to do.

Two stories,1976 Chevy pu,I was stopped at a stop sign and a state truck hit the spreader switch and threw a rock into the radiator. I saw the steam and checked the stream of antifreeze shooting three feet past the bumper. I made a run to the nearest auto parts store and bought Bars Leak pelet style,it has been in it 25 years. WE had an off road rock truck(see Gold Rush) and the radiator mount broke and the bottom tank was rubbing on the frame. I dumped two cans of Bars Leak in it and it went 8 hours,it got us through that Saturday. The hole in the tank was big enough that I could see inside the tank and see the tubes.
