It has a straight slotted screw. If it was a newer repo it would have a phillips screw. Look for gaps in the frame. Newer toys aren't fitted as well together as the original toys. The older toys also have a darker colored rust than newer ones.

Its a repo. The originals were cast much better, rivetted together and had natural rubber tires. Im not sure where those rear wheels on yours came from, but something is always lost in translation...

I have a couple of brandless repo cast tractors. One is unlicensed for sure John Deere. There are two sizes, I have the large one. It is supposedly an A. The second took me a long time to identify . It is painted green with brownish red steel wheels. Turns out it is an Oliver, no lights on the fenders though. I thought this was an old Allis(mispainted)for a long time. I see the John Deere ones at flee markets and thrift stores all the time, dont know who makes em or when. I started my collection with these two and then later thanks to the internet I found many farm toy dealers that had the good stuff.

Thanks I can see the difference now . There used to be a department store in the next town where this was found and they had all kinds of reproduction cast iron toys I have a few left . They were kinda neat I have a 2 section spike tooth Harrow a plow and I think thats all I have left . Always wondered why ertl wouldnt make a harrow .
