I assume any of these grain/ear corn storage structures with a cupola are constructed like that because they incorporated some
type of elevator/mechanized grain handling system. These very much intrigue me, and I am impressed by the early efforts at
mechanization- after watching my father do many things the hard way.

You are correct. Usually a vertical bucket elevator on one side of the center driveway. Then there was a spout that could be directed to either crib side, or center bins. They are pretty neat structures, made with a lot of tight-fitting lumber.

Now that's my idea of a house.A handy garage to work in,and a place to sleep in when you are done.Right now I have just under a
total of 4000 feet of shop/work space.(in three buildings).I am living in a 320 square foot building.That's only temporary,because
I am building a new house near it.However in the year I have been living in it I am liking it more and more.I don't do my living in
a house,I do it outdoors,in a shop,on a machine,in old cars,the house is the place to cook,shower and sleep.Heating it with less
than 100 gallons of fuel last winter was real pleasant.I think that round corn crib would make a perfect house for me.

Great looking building. Appears to be out in the middle of nowhere
along with the wind turbines in the background.

I agree that would make an awesome house, you could have an easy three levels and a widows walk, that is my favorite kind crib. We never had one like that, but some of our neighbors did.

That looks big enough to maybe have 2 legs in it. One for ear corn and one for grain. The one ontop of the one shed has 2 legs in it and is half as big as that one.Though both legs here are for grain. One to the mill for cleaning and the other for binning after cleaning or direct fill.

We have one similar to that one down the road,it is made of poured concrete blocks. The holes are small enough that ear corn will not fit through them but plenty of room for air.

Several years ago I read an article where a couple converted one of those into a house. Boarded up the drive thru opening.
All of the gaps in the blocks had hundreds of small windows installed in them. Made a pretty cool effect inside the house.
