A Day with the 730

Got in about 8 hours on the 730 Case today mowing around field edges, pushing dead trees and digging rocks. Its a real workout with the armstrong steering and the 7 foot blade hanging on the front. It got even heavier steering towards the end of the day when the right front tire started going down. I was able to make it the five miles home though. Still had 15 pounds pressure but I'm guessing I damaged the valve stem on a tree branch.

Apparently optional power steering or maybe it's not working? Dad had an 830 standard with power steering. I recall it being a great tractor for the time. That was in the early 60s when I finished my military enlistment and helped on the farm an entire summer. I really like the profile of those standard Cases with the big rear fenders. Many rocks in North Dakota that compare in size to this one you show. A saying there, was that where the rocks are, is where the good soil is.

No doubt it was too hard to do a video with armstrong steering Nice photo, Rusty - not a cloud in the sky.

Power assist was optional on these. My brother has it on his newer 830. I've done several mowing videos with the 730 before and figured everybody has seen them. Sure was a beautiful day. Well above normal temps but still dangerously dry.

Im glad John Deere had powersteering as standard by the 1960s . I can steer with one Finger even with a bale or load of dirt in the bucket

Same here on my 2140 but I always use the 730 on the mower and I had a lot of cutting to do today.

Do you have any pictures of blade mounts? I have I think same blade here I would like to mount on 1655 Oliver. It has two bolt mount on front and a mount that runs to rear drawbar. I think it is missing side mount to frame. any idea who made it?
