The Lincoln Blackwood

The Lincoln Blackwood is a luxury pickup truck that was marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company for the 2002 model year.
After the 2002 model year, Lincoln ended sales of the Blackwood in the United States, with all 2003 production of the model line sold in Mexico; the final Lincoln Blackwood rolled off the assembly line in December 2001, 15 months after its entry into production.

Yesterday I saw a Lincoln Mark LT pickup in town.

So why was the Blackwood sold for 1 year??

I only ever saw one, and it was probably 15 years ago in Madison. Idunno why they ended production so fast. Usually a manufacturer keeps a dud on the market for a couple years to offset the cost of tooling. But that one went away fast for some reason.

The Blackwood was an extremely impractical vehicle with its rear bucket seats (max of two people in the back seat) and upholstered cargo bed. Basically just a fancy F-150 minus the practical utility. In a way maybe it was ahead of its time, though, as today it seems like the manufacturers are falling over themselves trying to add more and more over-the-top, useless bling to their pickups.

Was it named after Nina Blackwood? Maybe Nina asked for a cut of the sales.

My boss worked at a Ford dealership years ago, He said the only difference between Ford or Lincoln/Mercury, was that Ford tighten all the bolts/screws.

She still DJs on the SiriusXM '80s on 8 channel, but now her cracked voice sounds like she smoked at least 10 packs a day!

I actually worked on the subwoofer project for that car it had a lot o flaws. poorly planned and implemented were a couple major items. wasn't at all practical as others mentioned. they wasted $150,000 just in the subwoofer box (plastic molded housing) let alone all the other items that were unique to the blackwood. the bed was basically a BIG trunk for a 4 passenger car. i think the price tag was pretty steep for 2002 if i recall correctly. got to ride in an early build 'mule version.

throwing $ away like that is one reason why cars are so crazy expensive. they really need to go an extra couple model years to amortize the tooling costs better.

A 50K truck before 50K trucks were cool. You could buy a loaded 2001 Ford Harley Davidson Edition Super Cab (27K) and throw a DynaGlide (12K) in the non-carpeted bed for less than the Lincoln!

I listen to that station often and ya she sounds ruff! Don't forget Alan Hunter and Mark Goodman

Neighbor had one and maybe his wife still has it. He passed away a couple years ago. I never rode in it and I don't think it has many miles on it. Neighbor was the kinda guy that if he saw something he liked he just bought it. His son is aware that the truck is rather rare.

Reminds of the , pt loser, the gen 2 el Camino , that ugly thing chebby had the srs? And the foose 4020 .

If you Google 'Lincoln Blackwood Wikipedia', you'll get the whole story from start to finish. Sounds like they were never sold up here in Canada. Mostly a Ford F150 and a Lincoln Navigator SUV cross by the sounds of it (mostly F150). Lots for sale in the link below .... these are US sellers and US dollars ....
Lincoln Blackwoods for sale .....

Thought it was neat when they first came out, but I didn't think they were much for a pickup. Not many around here, but saw plenty of them out in Washington. There were two sitting in a restaurant parking lot in Longview. Must be what the coasties use to traverse the mountains. Guarantee they wouldn't take them where I went with my F250.
