Rockford Mi.

I don't think I'll have my trailer fixed by then. Hard to get up the ambition to fix it in this weather. Have fun though.

They said 4-6 weeks to get one. They told me about a place in White Pigeon that likely could have one a lot sooner, maybe even in
stock, but I haven't checked yet. I'm debating what to do. The darned thing is only 18 foot on the deck with a 4 foot beaver
tail. I can get 12 round bales on it, two small utility tractors if I really jam them together. I'm seriously thinking about
moving a few shackles and making a tandem out of it instead of leaving it a tri-axle. Two 7000 pound axles should be fine for no
bigger trailer than it actually is.

The darned thing is so rough, I hate to put a lot in to it. The whole frame was rusted away in back, so I turned it upside down
15 years or so ago, cut the frame off at the center axle then welded new I beam to it and plated it, made a new beaver tail. The
frame is rusted through in a few spots toward the front more now. The cross members are bad. I'm always afraid of breaking
something if I turn too short on a hard surface, trying to bring all three of those axles around. As soon as the weather
straightens up, I'm gonna get under there and take a better look at what I have to move before I spend any money.

I just looked up that place in White Pigeon. $485 for a 7000 8 bolt. That kinda makes fixing it attractive. I need to pull a wheel
off and get some definite measurements so I can give them a call and see how long it would take to get it.

I called them. The place is called Johnson's Surplus. They have one in stock that's an inch wider spring center, but they have
plates to weld on for four dollars each. The hub face is three inches narrower, so each tire will sit in an inch and a half closer
to the frame. The price is $485. They said they could special order one to the exact size, but it would cost more and they didn't
know when it would come in.

There's a place called Bontrager's right down the road. I emailed them. They said they didn't have one on hand right now. They're
both just west of Sturgis. I think I might head down tomorrow and get the one from Johnson's.

Randy if you can chain that axle up to the frame take the take the tires of for tempoary use. Can't miss shows. RB

That's what I did to get the tractors the rest of the way home when the bearing went out on the center axle. I hauled 9 loads of hay too after the other axle broke.

If you are talking about D.R. Trailer in White Pigeon, their phone number is 734-439-1441. I know that is not the area code for White Pigeon. The home office is in Milan, Mich. about 6 miles south of me.
