Field Marshall M with Fordson Major in the back ground. The
sounds of my childhood. A local thrashing contractor used to
bring drum, elevator and baler to some farms in the village
behind one of those, maximum speed about 7 mph.
We used to call them a Betsy Marshall for some reason. In later
years my father's boss bought a later Series 1 for me to drive,
and I spent my school holidays cultivating and ploughing with
her. Used to come home covered in oil spots after a hard days
ploughing as she threw oil from the exhaust, a total loss
lubrication system from the two stroke diesel.

Oil goes into the cylinder and is burnt so she slowly empties the sump through the exhaust pipe. Bit like a two stroke motor but the oil is not mixed with the fuel.
