What's next?

So far this year I've replaced our washing machine, our stove, our dish washer, today our refrigerator. I am staying off my tractors for a while.
Don't need another expensive tractor part to pay for. All those items were around 25 or so years old. Stan

Her fridge quit about 6 weeks ago. The bill for the thermostat and two service calls was $200. We just hope that the repair will keep it going for another 5 years.

Stan, Don't complain 25 years !! I just replaced my Refrig. with a GE After having 3 and that's THREE LG's in 6 years!!! Guess what?? I'm never going to buy any more appliances with a LG on them !!

Stan,
You will learn they don't make things like they used to.
When it comes to new washers, I'm lucky if they last past their warranty.
Same with dish washer. I was never a fan of extended warranties. I'm glad I bought extended warranty of the washer and dishwasher. If I didn't have extended warranty, I would be buying new washer and dishwasher 1 years after the factory warranty ran out.

I had a washer that lasted 45 years. You will be lucky to get 5 years without a service call. The cost of a service call is more than an extended warranty.

They just don't make things like they used to and brand names are worthless. You may find out brand name appliances are owned by the same company.

Your question, What's next?? You get recalled.

Geo, I think I've heard that saying before "You will learn they don't make things like they used to. "

In many cases, that's a good thing.

All of what you bought won't last 25 years. Maybe not even if combined.
Household appliance manufactures are dependant on return customers to stay in business. SO, the appliances themselves ate engineered to not last long. And even if they do by way of low usage, they nail you again by changing models, obsoleting the appliance, and discontinuing the parts to fix them. It's a catch 22, and they got you in thier pocket one way, or another.
A refridge, washer, drier, T.V., deep freeze, water heater, whatever, is only manufactured to last an expected 4 to 7 years now.
And, you can't tell me that they are not making things durable on purpose, when they are making the same things energy efficient!!!!!!

Redforlife, The American Society of Home Builders commissioned a study that produced these results: gas ranges have the longest life expectancy: 15 years. Dryers and refrigerators last about 13 years. dishwashers (9 years) and microwave ovens (9 years). Where do you get your information? And you are also saying that the best way to get return buyers is to produce junk? Do you look the worst rated equipment to buy?

Consider: if you buy a brand A appliance and it turns out to be a piece of junk, do you then buy another brand A appliance? Or do you buy brand B? Or brand C?

Deliberately making inferior products is a business model that is doomed to failure. Therefore, producing a product that is designed to fail in a short time is a sure way to lose a customer - NOT to insure a repeat sale.

Remember the old saying - fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME!

Some have been repaired several times. Maybe 25 is pushing it a bit . My memory isn't the best. stan

According to Redforlifes plan I would have had to replaced all the appliances in the house about 3 times already. Fridge is older than me with a latching door. Water heater was here when I moved in in 1997 unchanged, stove was changed about 5 years ago. Gave away a couple TV's worked fine and didn't need them. I guess I could have put one in each room though no room in some for them.
