Onan ccka engine

How many horsepower is an onan ccka two cylinder opposed engine ? Thinking of replacing the one on my Miller AEAD 200 le welder with a predator engine.
 
Will the Predator have a tapered crankshaft to fit the generator? I want to replace an engine on a generator too.
 
If it is a direct drive, as in the engine is coupled to the generator, it takes a special motor with a taper shaft and a C face mount.

Predator may make a motor like that, pretty common.
 
If you have a look at the repowerspecialists site they list 2 engines as options for replacing the engine on a Miller AED200LE welder.

One is a Honda and the other is a Kohler CH680 (16 HP)

They also say yours could have either a tapered shaft or an externally threaded shaft.

Tapered shaft they use the Honda.

Externally threaded they use the Kohler.
 
The Predator clone engine will be cheaper in price. It will never match the Onan for torque nor reliability if the Onan is right in my opinion. The CCK series engines are very fine engines and there are thousands of them still in use today in many applications. Parts are a little bit expensive though. I am repairing a NH series now which is just a bigger version of the CCK series. I ran this same welder for years on a service truck and it did fine.
 
My engine blew up so Im trying to figure out what to replace it with Im not going to put a 1500.00 engine on it . The welder has circle coupler that the engine bolts too

He really knows his onans.

I have only delt with onans in lincoln and Miller welders and according to everything I have seen and been told, onans in welders and generators have tapered crankshaft and are different then every other onan in garden tractors and every other application that uses straight shaft.
 
Think someday there will be a cordless powered welder? Plan ahead and save the planet.
Connect to positive to the negative on a battery and see if you can weld with it.
Add more batteries to get a hotter weld. I've welded wrench before, makes a lot of sparks.

I agree boomer would be the one to talk to. I think his main work is with engines. He would know more about the shafts on the power units. My work was for the most part generator engines
 
Why not just put the Kubota diesel on it and forget about those non running gas engines. My Miller is newer but has the Kubota Diesel and starts well in the winter for welding or generator work. It's on a Trailblazer 265 so 20 plus years old already.
 
Boy I wish . My compressor has a single cylinder diesel on it and it will start at 20 below zero without any help
