Another precision made part

I bought a 3 position light switch for my Farmall 100. Went to install it today and the nut that holds it in place was too small to screw on. Fortunately I still had the old one and it screwed on without a problem. I guess the quality control people were sleeping the day that unit was made. I have gotten to where I never throw out the old parts until I know the new ones fit.

I don't throw away old parts unless they are clearly trash. Often the aftermarket parts are so bad I'm better off restoring the old parts and putting them back on. You can't seem to be able to escape it. Seems like they are all competing to make the cheapest junk they can.

I don't throw any of the old parts out until I am done with the repair... After that, they gotta go.

I've been cleaning out our barn's maintenance area of late. There are broken parts for equipment we haven't had for decades... My father is basically incapable of throwing anything out. Hell, we have parts for equipment we never have owned... I think he bought some other hoarder's stash of broken manure at an auction, and put it on the shelves...
