The auction M steering and starter.

Last night I posted an update on our M project. We were having
issues with the starter and getting the steering wheel off. Just wanted
to say thanks for the help. We got them both fixed today! You guys
were right the solder was broke inside the starter. I did the best I
could but I have to say it looks crappy! However it does work, so I
guess well see how long it lasts. I took everyones advice on the
steering wheel. Put my little puller on, a lot of heat, and a lot of beat!
It finally came off without having to cut it! Thanks again for the help.

Well good, but one thing on my loader M, i built a flat plate for the battery to sit on, and then i buy brand new conveyor belting 3/8 thick,[but i get it at the local Mac's Hardware]and i sit the battery on that,i got it so it cant vibrate, and no restriction on the top, i feel it increases battery life!

Not a bad idea. I might have to consider that. Ive got some old rubber here, maybe cutting it to size and putting it under the battery would be good.

Again, in case you didn't see my post on your yesterday's post, I for one really appreciate the updates. It's great that it appears that the fine young man is becoming your able assistant! It's great that you are fostering another young person's interest in our favorite hobby.

I just saw it and replied a little bit ago. Thanks for the feedback. Son does seem to be enjoying the project. Even if he doesnt get the old tractor bug that we all have I figure he will at least know how to turn a wrench and have some basic mechanical knowledge. Hopefully he will want to do more. I guess Ill find out when we start the next project!

Your son may be like my granddaughter,She loved to help me in the shop before she got to middle school age, then she got occupied with other things and in high school it was pig and steer showing. She has now gone to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and this semester she is taking a course in power tools and is now into the welding phase and loves it
She seems to run a pretty good bead from the pictures I saw of her work. She always said she wanted me to leave her all my shop equipment.

That awesome. If she can weld she will always find work. I just hope son continues to be interested in this like your granddaughter. No matter what he decides to do as an adult I want him to have the knowledge and ability to build or fix his own stuff.
