Needed an oil filter for this v twin engine. No USA number on the filter but there is a decal on the engine to use a certain number Fram or Stp filter. Those are not the same as what came on the engine. I tried, they leak because they are flat and bottom out before the gasket hits the base. The original filter is dished in.

I have seen something about some of those having a removable ring on the threaded filter mount that needs to be removed to use the other filters, on the ones that have removeable rings. Wix 51394 and 57145 were a couple other filters mentioned as fitting, you might check those out.

As mentioned, it's the base that can cause problems. Some oil filter bases are concave, some are convex. You could take your old filter and hit a few auto part stores and see which variety of filters have the base that will clear the engine filter base. Also, if you look at the online replacement parts list, they (allegedly) sell an oil filter that is recommended for both the horizontal and vertical 22 HP engine. Not sure how available it is, but it's currently listed for ~$13.

wix WL-10101 exact match. Forget all the other ones that are close. I bought 3 filters before I found this one. It's a new part number
