Farm pics, 20 years old already

Back in the early 2000's, just before my Grandfather retired, he bought a digital camera and carried it everywhere. He liked to take pictures of interesting sights he'd see when farming around our county. He and one of my Uncles were doing custom work as well as farming a good bit of their own, so they got around. He was cleaning out his office a few weeks back and gave me his book of pictures. 20 years old this summer already! I couldn't believe it. Seems like last week! Anyway, thought since on here might like seeing some pictures. If you like them I'll post more. He captioned them. We're right around the Antietam Battlefield.

He showed someone else and they said You'd have some really nice pictures here if you would've left the tractor out! But Grandad liked to show he was working too, not just out for a walk with the camera.

No but my Grandfather's hired man used to say he always was sure to wear his white shoes when he worked those fields because tourists were always taking his picture!

Years later, when my Uncle was running things they'd run all night if needed. And the rule was if you got tired at night, stop and rest. Well they went to check on the guy planting one night and he was asleep in the tractor with the door locked! He didn't like that farm.

These are great photos and it is wonderful he took the time to print and caption them. Very interesting so keep them coming.
Wonder if someone has restored that little cottage or if it has continued to deteriorate? Thanks for sharing them with us.

Sir. Best photos on this forum in quite a long time. Great tractor and farming pics that most will agree are fantastic. Wingnut

Nice Pics , how old is that big house with the white fence. Your history in MD is a good 100 years older than ours in Minnesota maybe 200.

Your grandfather certainly had a talent. He could see what would make a good motive on a picture. Those pics are calender quality.

Not sure when it was built but it was the headquarters for General McClellan (sp?) In the Civil War during the battle of Antietam, and a field hospital after.

Lee's headquarters was a few miles down the same road on the other side of town. You can drive between them in 5 minutes now. Always thought that was interesting.
