8N Tire Chains

Hello everyone,

Anybody know a place to get a set of tire chains that won't cost a fortune? Currently living in the mountains of Utah and get a ton of snow.

Thank you

I made my tire chain from old used road dept tire chains used on there graders. I stop at one of there shops and asked about tire chains and they show me a pile of old what they called wore out chains and I took a number of them and made my own

I also made a set for my tractor from old wore out chains from the state that was on there snow plow trucks. It worked for me
and didn't cost me anything.

I bought the chains for the Jubilee form TSC. I may have paid too much, but I needed
them ASAP. They were longer than needed. No biggie. Left them long so I could use them
on a different tractor if needed. The Jubilee is retired, so I left the chains on.
Only drive it on grass, so no biggie. Got great traction using the disk. I have no
tire ballast. Don't want any too.

(quoted from post at 14:14:04 09/17/21) Hello everyone,

ook for a used set on craigslist or fb marketplace. Usually around $100 -- $150.
Or look for a tractor for sale with chains and make an offer on the chains.

Many folks here, including me, have bought chains from tirechain.com. I wouldn't say their prices are cheap, but they'll have what you need. Other than that, your best bet is to find something locally at a garage sale or on craigslist. Note that it's not cheap to ship tractor tire chains, so it may be cheaper to buy local than have chains shipped across the country.

Dad had many old friends that hauled livestock, back in the 1950's & '60's all those little livestock
trucking companies had tire chains to be able to get to/from the Chicago Stockyards or Peoria Stockyards.
Dad bought up many sets of semi-tractor chains and built chains for FARMALL H & M, sure are heavy! Twice
as many cross chains as most chains available, cross chain every other side chain link.

Place on the Internet called E-Trailer has a pretty good selection of chains, but be warned, Good
chains will not be cheap.
But a couple years ago when I pushed snow off the end of the road tube under my driveway about SIX
INCHES too far, couldn't back up, I drove down off the side of my driveway into 2-3 foot deep snow and
chewed my way up into my front yard. Without chains I can't even drive up my concrete driveway, I never
take them off my #1 snow mover!

Tirechains.com have about the most reasonable prices you'll find. The other alternative is to watch Craigslist and FB Marketplace.
