Cab air freshener

Getting ready to combine beans and per usual the cab is not smelling like roses. Who ever had my combine before me must have had a real bad mouse problem. I've had it for probably ten years now but keeping mice out is about impossible after they have made a home. I do not have a rodent problem just an occasional one, I keep plenty of bait around and change it up. But even so they get in from somewhere. I keep those herbal rodent repellant packs in the cab and poison but have the tell tale odor still there. What have you used to keep a cab fresh. I keep it all cleaned out. Any homemade recipes, those little cab fresh packs help but aren't cheap. Not the biggest problem just annoying. Thanks Jim

I use a mild solution of bleach and water to wipe any surface I can get to. Take the top off the cab and wash out the a.c. fins and drip tray. Not exactly a fun job.

One preventative that has helped is removing any cab access panels that will allow light in. They don't like to be in open places.

Have you tried an odor eliminating product versus the air fresheners?

I would go to amazon and pick a five star product, one that is in a tub container that lasts a long while.

All you're doing is covering the odor up. The only way to get rid of the odor is to thoroughly clean, or remove, the source of the odor. When the air freshener runs out, the odor comes back.

Even so-called "odor eliminators" just cover up the odor and when they evaporate and float away, the odor is still there.

Buy a couple of bottles of soda water , carbonated. Put it in a spray bottle and spray the interior , especially the floor. Spray liberally and then wipe the excess. You can mix baking soda and water in lieu of carbonated soda water. This eliminates the mouse pee smell and then you can use an air freshener

Get a good ozone generator and put it in there overnight. Usually takes care of the odor. Might have to do it a couple of times

Chlorine Dioxide it is expensive but it really works to remove odors. It is the same idea as the ozone machines that hotels would use in a room after someone smoked in it. Amazon has it.

I bought this at Sam's.
Need to find the dead mouse.
I use Odo Ban to clean carpet.
I had to take apart a refrigerator and wash out about 100 stink bugs. Odo ban removed the stink bug smell. Also works on cigarette smells.

It's not spray in the air and smells gone.
You need to apply this and wash it off.
It will work.

I use Odo Ban as a carpet cleaner too.
Best thing I've found.
Try it. Only about $10 at Sam's.

"Chuckles", I'm with you.

A professional ozone generator will even remediate the stench left by a rotting corpse.

(NOT that I have any personal experience with such a problem, LOL!)

They way I've done this is to run the ozone generator in the cab with the AC fans running (powered by a charger on the battery) for a couple of days.

Smear a little tooth paste on your upper lip.....cheap and effective....as long as no one sees you.

Ben

Try putting a couple charcoal briqettes in a sock in the cab, it works to remove the odor from refrigerators/freezers, can't guarantee it, but cheap to try. Good luck.

I don't know where one can get an ozone generator to use but you can order the chlorine dioxide from Amazon and fill the cab with ozone.
