I was named after my Grandpa. Never got to spend a lot of time with him. He died at 65. Grandma put him on a diet which he stuck to while at home. He had a second diet when he went to town.
He said I going to eat what I want and die happy. Not sure if he was happy with the heart attack that killed him

George,
Great photos.
My Grandpas both died before I was born.
My Dad's Dad, a farmer here in our community, died about 2 months before I was born.
My Mom's Dad, an accountant in England, died about a year before I was born.
Great talking with you yesterday.
Richard

That is my uncle helping him. Look carefully at the background to see the juxtaposition of old and new.

.

My dad's side were all farmers. All died young. I begged my mom to tell me before she died of cancer to tell me she had an affair. I wouldn't be mad. I would be happy not to have my dad's Gene's.

I broke the family tradition. I went to college and never had a desire to farm.
I do play in the dirt, tiny garden and get dirty.

I tell people I'm a dirty old man.

I didn't notice the plane, Thanks.

My dad bought a plane. Landed in in the field next to the house. Mom came out with a broom. Airplane flew away. Mom made her point. End of my dad's flying.

(quoted from post at 05:03:18 09/16/21) that last one is really interesting. do you know the story on the plane?

Yes, wjy. The plane belonged to my uncle in the pic. The farm was in northern NH, and my uncle had moved out to the world and ended up woking at one of the numerous aircraft manufacturers in New Britain CT. He used his employee discount to purchase the airplane pictured. He didn't have a car but in those days one didn't need one, But he could easily travel distances as of course those early planes were designed to fly from grass fields.

Wow that is a lot of horses hooked to that plow. Wonder if he was considered a BTO of the day ?
