My favorite was feeling like I could grow up to be anything I wanted to be, like a base ball player, or rock star, maybe make movies. Once you grow up you learn its about what last name you have or how much $$ your family has. Guys like me learned to shut up, go to work, and pay your taxes. Sure miss the days when I felt like life was fair and anyone could be president.

When I was a kid about in 3rd grade I can remember when we were asked what we would be when we grew up I said President and the teacher told me no you wont. Really the only memory I have of that teacher. Well I never specified what I would be president of so I hereby declare myself President of my little unincorporated farm. Take that Miss Marra !! You are right about the shut up go to work and pay your taxes. I did a lot of each, probably could have climbed the work food chain higher if I was better at the shut up part. Oh well.

My third grade memory. The teacher said there's one thing no one can take from you. That what you put in your brain, an education. So don't cheat yourself and copy someone's answers.
I took her advice.

Helping my father and grandfather for no pay and little to no thanks, but looking back I feel it was good learning experience at every level. Got to help stick-build a house from age 6 as well as pick up potatoes, pick rock cut cabbage stack and tote wood and a lot of other jobs as I grew bigger and more capable. Personally I think a work ethic is largely instilled at a young age which I appreciate that I got.

You ask the question as if I only had one memory. So I will start with my earliest memory; Dad shot a Tom cat that was killing the little kittens, he tied a piece of binder twine to is back feet, looped it over the saddle horn, put me in the saddle on Scout, dad climbed on, we went to the pasture to round up the milk cows, but before we got to the cows dad took careful aim and dropped the Tom cat in a badger hole for burial. I still clearly remember the sound that cat make falling from the top of the horse in to the badger hole.

My favorite childhood memory, is possessing memories... de ol' memory bank - she's starting to go kaput! :(
