Stock tank heater.

How hot can a tank heater heat the
water?I am using a 250 gal tote for a
shower reservoir. Solar is not enough to
do the job.Thought a tank heater would
help.Cold showers are not fun!

Im wondering why you dont just buy a water heater? Maybe an on demand LP would for sure heat the water to a desirable temperature.

Paint tank flat black.

Or think about building a thermosiphon tank heating set up.
Then insulate the tank and everything else but the solar collector.

I don't think a stock tank heater would make things all that more comfortable. Assuming water under pressure and utilities present a spot heater that only heats as you use water seems the most logical way to go. Outdoor boilers common where you are at to maybe pick up one pre-owned?

A 220v water heater element sticking out the bottom of a closed container that could be placed in the tank on a bracket that holds it rigid would work. There might be a need for a GFI breaker, and a separate ground to assure isolation from water contact. Adding insulation to the outside would also assist in raising the temp with the element. Jim

In your climate if you have a coil of black plastic pipe I would think it would heat the water. Just uncoil and spread where the
sun hits it. If you can't set up thermosiphon a small circulator would work.

Livestock tank heaters really only prevent ice. So, you'll likely only gain a temp in the 30's or maybe 40's with a tank heater.

You could also rig up a flat pancake coil of the black polyethylene hose/tubing used for buried irrigation.

300 feet of 3/4 inch will give you almost seven gallons of water before you get the cold water.
One inch will give you a bit more than 12 gallons before you get cold water.
If you have that 275 gallon tank elevated and feeding the coil the water would be ambient entering the coil via gravity.
Add a circulating pump then you would be adding btu's to the tank if insulated.
