Hay tedder follow up

I called both the folks that were mentioned in my previous post, no luck. The fellow at Hay Tools in Tenn. told me to call the Galfre distributor in North Carolina, again no luck, so I'm still looking for a 3.5 x 8 wheel (rim)for it. It's an early fold back model and really is the best tedder I've ever used but I guess it's time to send it on down the road if I can't get the parts I need for it, unless someone has one sitting in a fence row somewhere. It's getting to be a lot like me, old and worn out. Keith

Try Greene's tractor in Sneedville, TN I have bought wheels and tires for my old Haybob from them. They show a 3.5x6...could it be the same? 423-733-2272. Good luck.

I think my spares are 6" 2 piece wheel. I cant remember where I found rake parts now. I will go see what I have. A pic would be helpful if you have one.

I was unsuccessful Ken. Both runs appear to be junk. These particular ones came off a combine pickup. Possibly MF. Also had a camp trailer that size. I have used wheel barrel tires too in some applications. Just some ideas.

A quick Google search for a 8 inch tedder wheel brought up several
My Sitrex built M&W tedder has 8 inch wheels and use a 16x6.50-8 tire which is a pretty standard size for several brands.

Keith so describe the center you say 3.5 X 8 I have many 8 in wheels is it like a wheel that slides on a 1 inch shaft with no bearings or a wheel with 4 bolt pattern . A photo of the other side would help

It's a typical 2 piece tedder wheel and the 2 bearings and spacer go inside when you put the 2 sides together. The bearings i.d. is .98. I put the old one back on this morning after I welded it yesterday and believe it or not, it slid right on so I must have gotten it pretty darned close, but I'd still like to get a spare one to have. The tire that goes on it is a 3.5 x 8

Looks like I have finish mower 3X8 wheels that uses a spacer and tow bearings to get down to a shaft but the shafts are all smaller than 1 inch they bolt together and you are talking welding still would like to see a picture

Years ago I got fed up with the small wheels and tires on my tedder so I cut off the axles and welded on new stub axles for commonly available wheels and tires. I welded the new axles farther up the frame to maintain the same ground clearance with larger wheels. It made a much more reliable machine out of it.
