My guess is this is in the northern corn belt based on the crib being thinner for better air flow. The clean ears must have come from a New Idea picker.

I have heard Bloody Butcher red corn makes better shine than yellow. Does it make better shine?

Seriously, I have never heard of anyone using bloody butcher for that.
But it has probably been done in the hills here.
I have a friend that grows it.
Will have to ask if he knows.
