Thanks shes a 72 with an orange 350 under the hood. Its a nice old truck I do enjoy using it although its mighty expensive at the moment with corn syrup at 3.79$ which I refuse to run it and gas is 4.22$ a gallon .

Actually it kinda did and kinda did not big iron said it wasnt good enough to be listed on their precious auction so the owner sold it to me if I would clean up the rest of the equipment he had that could go on the auction . It has one dirt side need to make another one I have the wood Just need to make it and it has a set of sides about four feet tall to haul grain kinda wish it had cattle sides might make happen on to some sometime maybe

Two straps at 6600 pounds working load isnt enough for a 1500 pound cultivator ??? I guess barney did say straps are illegal.

Its 14 but I Like to throw an extra when using straps now I know Ill have to get more straps . Do you figure somewhere in the universe floating around are socks and ratchet straps ??

I went and looked it up just to make sure I was correct.
I was off on the weight.

Less than 5 feet and less than 1100 lbs = 1 strap.
Less than 5 feet but over 1100 lbs = 2 straps
Over 5 feet but less than 10 feet regardless of weight = 2 straps
When over 10 feet long you need 2 straps plus 1 additional strap for every 10 feet or fraction thereof.
Placing tight against a headboard can count as 1 strap.

So if you place your 20 to 30 foot long piece tight against the head board you can get away with 3 straps.

You should know better than to post pictures with improper tie downs.

For God's sake, does every thread have to turn into a lecture about tie downs? We've been through this how many dozen times! Can't we just admire the truck? That's what the thread was about.
By the way, I think the truck is really nice and would love to see more pictures of it.

Agree, I don't see too many Barneys running the back roads. There concentrate on Interstate commercial carries.
I wonder how many farmers can say Barney has stopped them for being overloaded carrying grain to town or not having a secure load if the load hasn't fallen off the truck??

what is the decal ? they are a tough old truck. i see a tesco mud flap was wondering what that's about.

Afraid I have to side with the strap guys on this one. Cant talk about hauling laws too much cuz the only other way to learn about the law is sitting in your truck waiting for the cop to come back with your license and the ticket. Also I got a curt comment from another poster when I asked about metric grease fittings after a long absence. Seems you guys had just discussed it a week prior, so now I do a back search before I post cause I dont want to p.o. anybody.

John, if your comment was meant in jest, then I apologize to you.

But the rest of my reply still stands. Seems like this same dead horse gets beat to death about every other week. Usually it's a thread that starts out on a different topic, then veers off course into this same old refrain. If someone wants to start a thread on that topic it's one thing. But no need to hijack every other thread with this same stuff.

Right after the Clear fuel came out in 1992, troopers would sit across from auction sales and stop farmers as they left the sale , and dip their tanks, because they knew these guys fueled their trucks with fuel that was on the farm. Couldnt touch them on private property, but once they were on the road, they could stop them for any reason they wanted.

And for farm equipment there are some different rules than your strap every 10 feet. old tractors can have 2 chains and be legal if they are under something like 5000 LBS. this would be for old tractors like the H,M,A,B and such.

Two chains for under 10,000 is the rule here and that was changed it used to be 2 chains as long as they were rated for the weight . Noe over ten thousand Is 4 chains
