I ran across this quote in another forum. It has probably been posted here before, but maybe some haven't seen it.

"Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from a cornfield." ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower

I believe it was the former Governor of New York who said farming was no big deal, stick a seed in the ground and it grows. Pretty indicative of the
elites who occupy mansions on the coasts.

One of the Secretary Of Agriculture said once just three months of work in the summer, and the rest in Florida ! Or something like that,it was a long time ago, Maybe back in Earl Butz's time !

fastfarmall,

I remember that Earl Butz got into a bunch of trouble for some comment he made, but I don't remember just what it was. Do you remember what got him into the trouble?

Reply to Tom in TN-- Earl Butz made a racist comment that ended with his forced resignation. If you do an online search of 'Earl Butz Loose Shoes' I'm sure you will find it.

Well there was a little trouble of getting him confirmed, when he was nominated,, he had worked for Purina at one time, and everybody thought he was going to push corporate farming, or something,or maybe it was vertical integration, everybody was scared of!

I thought Earl Butz was on an airplane heading for Hawaii when
he used a term everyone called one of our enemies during WW2.

(quoted from post at 14:06:15 09/08/21) OOps! I just Goggled Earl Butz and saw his quotation. It is so vulgar it can't be posted here. What was he thinking.

n addition to being a racist, he was also a tax cheat. And he couldn't stand small time farmers. Kind of a well-rounded guy.

Former Ill governors get the. best medical a doctor can provide. According to the chief medical director { my son} at Terre Haute Indiana Federal Prison. Also he in worlds better at spelling than his father!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'. Bob Newhart
