That looks like fun . I swathed barley one year for a guy we did 1800 acres and I loved every minute of it . What year is that swather ?

versatile 400, 40 years old, 1981. i was just thinking the same while swathing about its age. lol. when i was 17 and 18 years old back in 1974, 75 i worked the summer holidays from school assembling these swathers. they came in pieces on train flatcar. engine was in a crate,200 cid ford 6 cyl. very easy on fuel these are.
main frame came basically with the pumps rear frame had to be installed, tires separate, header separate and parts all had to be installed. reels had to be assembled. it took me 1 1/2 days to have it ready to pre-deliver, go over everything with a check list. we had an old cockshutt 30 with a front end loader to do all this out in the yard outside. did the reels inside the shop. they are a tough old swather that just keep on going. they came out in 1970 till some time in the 80's when the 4400 came out.

I was going to say it had a more modern look to it . I did my share of assembling little foreign made tractors and implements while I was at the dealer took about every metric wrench you had in your toolbox to put one together

Great pic Rusty .... our tractor club has 50 acres of barley to harvest starting next week sometime. Other than Canola, all the other grain crops here are taken off directly now with no swathing by the big time operators. I love the look of those swathed rows, very well done. Picture here was from last fall at our site ....
