Need help. King kutter gearbox gears

I have a old orange color 5ft king kutter finish mower. The 15 tooth gear in the gear box stripped out a few teeth. It has a key slot.
I can't find the replacement gear. any help would be appreciated. Thanks [/img]

You mean you cant find a distributor or is the part
discontinued?

Probably need the other gear too. Can't

The larger gear is in good condition.

Agri Supply has complete gearboxes, by the time you buy 2 gears, 4 bearings, and the seals there is probably not much price
difference!

I've never seen good results running a new gear against an old worn in one. RogerinIA is on the right track.
Replace both.

Identifying the gear box may be the trick, there is a good chance King Kutter bought it, not built it. And it may be obsolete. Is the mower worth a new gearbox, as that may be the fix. Try this place, you may need to call and talk to them.

The large gear may look good, but when there is a catastrophic failure like that, there could be
unseen fractures in the gear, even the shafts and housing could be stressed or cracked.

I would be more inclined to look for a replacement gear box. Might even find a generic box that
could be adapted to fit.

There's a KK finish mower gearbox on Ebay for $200 code 184000. $33 & chng. shipping. Also, I found a great source for finishing mower parts: highgrademfg.com. Mostly
yoke,wheel,tailwheel, and spacers. I have a Buhler finish mower that blades and wheel parts are hard to find and expensive.

Just scrap that gear box and get a new one from AgriSupply or Ebay. Money difference in a new box vs all the parts shouldnt be much.
