Soybeans starting to turn

The same just up the road in Oskaloosa area. I'm going to start helping a neighbor put high moisture corn in his bunker silo starting Tuesday. He asked if I wanted to run his new Deere S780 with a 12 row head. I said yes! :)

You're in Ottumwa?

Six years or so ago when I was doing insurance inspections a gal of ours in Shenandoah, IA broke a leg in a car wreck and while she was laid up I went to Ottumwa and worked out of a motel for a week catching up some of her work.

Interesting town. What is it, 17 bridges within the city limits?

There is an old saying that goes , there comes a time when all grain is ripe . I do believe that time is upon us once again. The leaves on the soys are definitely changing colour, and the ears in the earliest planted corn are beginning to turn down

Corn across the road is turning real fast. planted March 5th.
Beans are still green. Been dry, Farmers are running irrigation pumps on beans.

I looked at our neighbors beans in extreme N MN, there were more beans in the pods than I expected, been a very dry summer. No irrigation there, close to the Rainy river!

There are only 6 across the Des Moines river, and one is a rail road crossing, one an abandon railroad that is now part of a walking/biking trail, and other four are highway or city street crossings.

There may be other bridges other places in the city.

Must have been a long week?? LOL.

When I had my sale I debated about selling the 9560 and buying my father-in-law's 6620 because an 8 row machine kinda seems like over kill for 250 crop acres and his 6620 was in great shape, but decided I was too spoiled with the newer machine to do that. My 9560 is well worn but still a dependable combine and it should run till I fully retire just fine.
