Ag Day at School

I was invited to take my tractor to Ag Day at Riverdale High School in Port Byron, Illinois today. This was for the grade school kids. There were 10 tractors,1 cow and calf, 1 horse, 3 pigs, 3 or 4 goats and a bee keeper plus corn hole games and 6 pairs of cow horns for the kids to try to rope. There might have been more, but thats all I saw. The older kids asked lots of questions, but the little kids just rambled on about everything. It was a good day, glad I went and stayed around!!

I think I see a young lady teacher in the first photo ..... I think, especially in the younger grades, a young teacher is the best thing that can happen for the kids and a school too. Not that older teachers aren't effective but I think the young blood is necessary and nowadays with tough economic times, a lot of teachers hang on too long, and are still teaching over 65 or even over 70. I retired from teaching at 55 and it was time to go, loved the job and the kids too (and most of the staff) but the young ones need a job and I'm gad some young feller or gal got my job.
