Garden spider on a tractor

Yes, he's sitting on a hedgerow tractor. I spotted this guy out in the yard a few days ago and accidently tore his web. Glad to see he repaired it and stuck around. Numbers in my area had been down the last few years, but there seems to be a few of them in my area this year. With the really cold winter, I was wondering if their population would have been affected. I had always assumed they were completely harmless to humans, but Wiki says their bite is no worse than a bee.

I have one of those in my garden between the green beans and the T post that has the sprinkler on it. Big web of about 3 foot in diameter

I always hated those things, when chomping weeds in the sorghum fields and them crawling on you when a kid.

Hunting a field one early morning. The low sun illuminated the webs all over the field. All of them were oriented to face east-west. Could no see any looking north-south.
