IH pickup ??

As a kid we had an old IH pickup on the dairy. I think it was a quarter ton truck. I remember driving while by brother was putting hay in feed trough. All the sudden the truck went down on axle and brother came over hood. The bull decided he wanted fed now. Got in the back of the truck.

I Don't remember the year, but I do remember the air conditioning was the front window, it cranked out. We had to close our eyes when driving and turning the AC on. All the dirt on the floor would to in your eyes.
Also remember the wipers ran off intake vacuum.
I may not be 100%, but I thought it had tear drop shaped headlight, wood bed and a step side, rounded finders. I think it was an army green.

Any Idea what year this truck could be? I really don't need one, but part of my brain thinks it would be cool to have one as yard ornament to remind be of childhood.

Back in the early 50s or so , your tear drop head light as you call it. However I cannot remember any that the windshield folded out until pre war so that makes it 37 or so. I have owned Ih all my life.

The windshields on IHC trucks cranked out until the 1950 cab redesign, but you have to go back to pre-WWII 1940 or earlier to get non-integral headlights in buckets sitting atop the fenders.

Heres a good one to put up on blocks in the pasture! Go to 6:20 to see the windshield doing its thing...
1949 KB2

As mentioned, it could have been a K or KB series from the 40's.

The D series from the 30's would also have the crank out windshield.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Jerry,
Sweet truck.
I think ours was older.
I think we had 4 speed.
Are all 3 speed?
What year is yours?

Thanks
I think we had the D.
This was mid 50s.
No way would Dad having a newer truck.
It the the fender mounted headlights.

The D2 was produce from 1937-1940
I have a 39. It has a cowl vent and the crank out window. Mine has the dealer installed sun visor. This option makes the crank out un-usable

That's what I remember.
I left the farm in 1967.
Been a long time ago.
Thanks for the memory.
If I win the lottery I would want one fully restored with modern upgrades.

This one's a 55 so it is later.
Restored like new.
I store it for a friend who lives in Seattle but grew up here and has and around here.
It is a 55 bought new by his Dad who was blind and my friend drove him around before he had a license.
It has been to Oregon and back one time.

sec1939,
I had that photo stored in our computer. I almost posted it instead of the one I put up! Good thing I didn't! :)

That's a beautiful truck!! So is the tractor!

Dad had a 49 KB1 until I was 18 years old. You are so right about the dust coming up off the floor when the windshield was cranked open. It was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The engine would start at well below zero but was reluctant to start when it was hot. I was glad to see that old slow antique go when dad traded it off but I wish I had it now.

Thanks Rich, The IH A is also a 39. Since I live in Chicago area I had to have the set. The A is a crank start. Fires up on the first or 2nd pull every time. I have no real use for the A but I do tool around town in the truck. Max comfy speed is 4-45 mph. They look big but the cab is tight with two inside. Seats did not adjust
