Posted on the MF Forum but figured I might get a quicker answer here, was out in back of pasture while ago and belt started squeaking and immediately went to smoking, shut tractor off. Havent checked it yet as I walked back to house to fix some lunch. What should I look for when I get back? Dont believe its the alternator as I think the pulley on it will turn, tractor has a front end loader on it and may be aggravating to see what the problem is

Loosen the belt and try to rotate everything it goes around; something will be tight or stuck. Mark.

Try rocking the top fan blade rear to front. Bearing can be going and seal still holding in the water pump.

It might be repairable though.
The bearing are usually standard off the shelf bearings. As long as they didn't spin in the housing or on the shaft, it might can be saved.
