Our little provinces full of these! Lots of people think its their turn to go while your already in the roundabout and will just cut you off.

Several of those have been installed around town.

Not real crazy about them, but they're here, not much I can do but approach with caution.

There is a big one in the town just north of here, been there as long as I can remember. The intersection of about 6 major streets. It's big enough people can get up some serious speed! You better know what lane to be in and be ready to make some do or die moves!!! Hate it!

State Dot wanted to put one in our little community about 1 mile from home.
After public reaction, it was canceled.
It was going to eat up a small section of a Century Farm and possibly take out one of the oldest standing homes in the community.
We need more patrol cars and county deputies on the roads instead of spending a bunch of money on foolish stuff.

I don't like them one bit. The city I work for have put several of these in and have plans on installing more.

I most fun one I have been in is in Pinehurst NC. Navigating the Pinehurst Traffic Circle is on youtube. It has took me 15 to 20 min just to get in the circle its a nightmare if you don't know it well. They will ticket you in a heartbeat the heat is always around.

The hospital is the draw card its a busy place.

When we went to senior driving school years ago we were told they cause slightly more small accidents but far fewer bad ones, I think that is true. I have gotten to accept them, just have to concentrate going into them. I don't like stopping for no reason, which is what you are supposed to do at a stop sign. I treat every stop sign as a yield sign, and I have never gotten a ticket, and have done very little brake maintenance in my driving years!

LOL, we have several in this area. I've been screamed at by people who don't understand how you are supposed to drive in them. I hate em. Lots of people will stop and sit because they are unsure what the other drivers are doing.

I have never seen one. Sure don't look like fun trying to dive into a circle of cars and get back out before someone dives into you. 4 way stops are bad enough!

The biggest problem for me is how close my entrance to the round about is, in relation to the exit for the vehicle that is in the round about. You have to guess as to, is he leaving into this exit to my left or is he going into the exit that is past me.

I just hate coming up on one without realizing what I'm headed in to. I hit one of those just north of Danville Ky a couple of weeks ago. I didn't see any sign saying it was a roundabout, I had to figure that out myself.

Roads have changed a lot since we took driver's education fifty some years ago, if drivers was even available back then. Taking a refresher class once in a while does not hurt and reduces the surprise and panic of getting caught in a new situation with no idea of what we should do.

I think they're great.

One immediately reduced fatal accidents to zero on a high accident intersection in open country near my house.

All you have to remember is as you enter the roundabout, anyone approaching you from your left has the right of way over you, and if you're in the roundabout, you have the right of way over anyone approaching.

What screws everything up is either people don't know how to use one, or they think they'll be a nice guy and not take the right of way when they have it.

One small addition: use your turn signal to indicate when you are getting off, not when you are getting on.

I am of the opinion that anyone seeking to renew their driver's license should have to at least study for and take a written test covering such things as we're talking about here and especially common courtesy to other drivers.

TWO DOGS, good thought !!! here in Mi. SOS sent my mother a 'renew by mail', return the form, with money,
get new 3yr drivers license back via mail. and she was 97 yrs old !!

Nebraska spent $3 million on one last summer by Hastings.
24/7/12 solution to a 2/5/9 traffic problem, and even with the little fld daycab, I curb my trailer tires.

A traffic light programmed to flash red for the cross street when school isn't getting in or out would have been far more efficient.
