After a really horrible summer of wet weather that pushed my custom bale man behind, I got it all in Monday and Tuesday. Didn't expect to get any this year. The weeds were bad due to the heat and rain but it's in.

That great.
We have had very little haying weather here.
Did get about 10 days without rain back in early summer.
Lots of haying then.
Pastures are very green around here.

Some weeds provide very good nutrition for cattle. Neighbors have a big organic dairy farm. Their hay fields have been overrun with dandelions for the last few years. They say the holsteins eat it like candy.

We hadn't had rain in 13 days. I cut 32 acres Monday and yesterday. We got slammed with a big storm about supper time. I haven't looked, but I'm pretty sure what didn't blow away washed to the bottoms of the hills.

I just finished my coffee. I'm headed out to clean up the mess in the yard. No trees on fences, but you can't walk through the yard. No structure damage except a few broken windows in the barn. Like you said, about 5 yesterday it was darker than night with a full moon. Not only was the satellite dish out, I couldn't even get anything on the antenna. Internet was all we had to monitor things. Fire trucks sat up the road half a mile for several hours, power lines down in the road.

I guess if the sun comes out, the hay might be OK. That is, if there's any left that hasn't blown to the woods.

Was just checking the forecast in central alabama, wanted to cut hay today, 3rd day in a row with no rain. Field is dry enough to drive in. But 60% rain chance tomorrow and 50% rest of the week. Tropical storm possible early next week.....no hay yet here

when they get a 3 day forecast PERFECT.

maybe just maybe i'll believe their 1 deg global warming temp over 30 years.

shoot around here i'd be happy with getting tomorrow's forecast right.

Mike,
where are you in NE Ohio?

my family is from the Williamsfield area and my inlaws are between Windsor/RockCreek/Bloomfield

We got a little wind and some rain but few downed limbs. Of course the tornado the hit Armada a few weeks ago took car eof all the weak ones.

80,000 without power this morning.

With the weeds, do you sell the hay? When dad sold hay, horse people were very fussy. When my brother raised cattle, and had to buy hay. The cattle ate about anything that was trucked in. Stan

I'll sell it, no problem. I deal with local people, mostly horse owners with two or three stall barns or a shed and a horse or two. They can't store enough hay for the whole winter. It mostly sits in the barn all winter and I sell out March through May. Some goat people and even one with llamas.

Yay for you mike ! We had a year like that one time were chopping second and third guys were still trying to bale first

There must have been some hail. I have some corn with shredded leaves and some that's down pretty bad from the wind.

I am with you, just finished my 1st cut yesterday. now to start 2nd cutting and we could use some rain now for the corn.
