Stuck cub motor UPDATE

Took carb off, took valve cover off the side. The 2 valves that had rust on top are covered with rust in there. Got the Deep Creep spray, covered them good. Now we wait. Makes me wonder about the stories I hear about pouring transmission fluid in a stuck motor and it comes loose, sure never works for us. And this one doesn't look too bad.

I wasted almost a year pouring acetone and atf in a engine. Finally used a 12# sledge and 2 shaft with a 1/2 slug on top of the pistons...moved maybe a 1/16 of an inch. This was on a engine that had run 2 years previous. Finally took the engine out and replaced it. Only one I didn't win...have had good luck with isopropyl alcohol in many engines.

Now your getting it!

If they stuck open there is a good chance they moved to that position when the engine was rotated/started. If so, they can probhably be pushed back down (if the engine is turned to TDC on that cylinder). If the head is off this is easy, if the head is still on, a L shaped tool can be made to gently tap them down again. No force needed. Sometimes just turning on the keeper will snap them back down. I've freed up 30 plus tractor engines with ATF. I do fill the cylinders and also pour it in the exhaust so it gets to the exhaust valve. Doesn't always work but it has so for on 90% of the engines I have used it in

I always use Kroil, it is what Navy uses. Little bit expensive but it works!!! $45.+ for a gallon. I always have some on hand. I'm running a little low so I'm going to have to order some soon.

An Allen wrench will work for the L shaped tool Use as large of one that will fit in the spark plug hole and still maneuver As to the rust if its just surface rust the penetrating oil will work. If the rust is lumpy and scaled disassembly is the only cure. Remember a spot of rust the size of a quarter across 3 rings will stick a engine

Boy things have taken a huge hike in prices, it is now $115.00 on Amazon, and local distributor is over $200.00 for one gallon. So I guess I will order from Amazon
I used to buy from Kano laboratories direct, as of April now you have to get from DISTRIBUTOR.

The theory is that, with heat enough to melt the wax, it will wick into a joint like solder does. Once in the joint it supplies lubrication. While it doesn't work 100% of the time (I don't think anything does) it does work. I have some beeswax and I think it does work better than paraffin/candle wax.
