Hydrogen truck info for Geo th

60 years ago I read about fuel cells being used in the space race. They claimed not
only would it provide electricity it would give astronauts drinking water
Back them they said fuel cells were too expensive.

Toyota and Cummins are betting on Hydrogen fuel cells.
Thanks for showing others have working models.

Recently I posted that in early 1900's 1 in 4 cars were EV's. Evs, were cheaper than
internal combustion cars. The Model T was a car for the working man and cheaper than
Evs so EVs were replaced by internal combustion engines. More than 125 years later it
sounds like gas and diesel engines may be replaced by EV's, battery or fuel cells..

General Motors is the latest automaker to pledge that it will phase out combustion
engines worldwide, replacing the fleet with electric-powered vehicles. In a release
today, GM sets a 2035 target to stop selling vehicles powered by a gasoline or diesel
engine with the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040.

Times are changing faster than I could ever imagine.

Burnt Hydrogen is a major component of well water, the waste from Hydrogen fuel cells Water. There is an abundance of water on earth. Unburning it takes more energy than produced by its combustion due
to the complex reactions needed to strip off the Hydrogen from the heavy Oxygen atom. Natural gas, and liquid petroleum, as well as coal
have Hydrogen in a combustible state, BUT it is surrounded by carbon and the carbon is what is wrong with fossil fuels to begin with. So we
need to make plenty of electricity where there is nice clean water using solar voltaics or wind/tide/geothermal. Reality is harsh. there may be too many horses, and not enough hay. Jim

Field of Dreams!! Build it and they will come,
Build hydrogen vehicles and more companies will come and produce it.
Build EV's and more charging stations will come to your hood.
Until we produce a surplus of electricity, hydrogen will be made the same way 95% of it is made today, using a carbon fuel.

Be interesting to see the math. How much carbon is produce driving a 1000 miles with gas vs how much carbon is produced making hydrogen to drive 1000 miles using a fuel cell. I'm guessing because fuel cells are about 2x more efficient than internal combustion, hydrogen will be the winner. Yes it will produce some CO2 making it, overall it will be less.

Carbon not used within the process of purifying Hydrogen 16 molecules of CO2 and 18 of Water. with the ration being so close to unity 1.125, the weight of the Carbon and its massive energy potential before oxidation, makes it difficult to condone feformulating Crude into hydrogen. Jim
C8H18 + 25 O2 -> 16 CO2 + 18 H2O
