Thinking about getting a JD gator?

I can't seam to find much in the way of reviews about them. Just wondered what you guys would say about them? Gas or diesel? Maybe I should look at the Kubota's? Don't really need one but the wife and I could check out the neighborhood together. Guess I could spray fences. We have miles of canal roads to travel.

KUBOTA all the way they have just taken over the side by side market ,, and yes they are not as fast but last forever.

want to last forever.. then a kawsaki diesel, rough ride, all but impossible to get stuck, still have all of them running. 3000 hours plus.

.. want the smooth ride at fasted speed, then the kubota but gets stuck in its own shadow, too heavy. 600 hrs...

Had early jd gator that was really a lawnmower.. newer ones much changed. sold it.

Getting a buggy (gator) means the little tractors get ignored and rarely used now.

Getting a gator with a/c meant that no one wanted to get out and work anymore, so it had to go home and the kawasaki's came back. Dont make that mistake.

I have an older model Kubota rtv 900. It gets used every day. My cousin has the diesel Gator. I think it's the xuv 825. Can't quite remember. There are things I like about the jd better and there are things I like about my Kubota better. Both machines have been trouble free and I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. I would only have a diesel. I fill it up out of the same barrel as my tractors. I can almost guarantee if you get one you'll wonder how you ever got along without one. They are extremely handy.

Here's mine.

Jerry,
Kawasaki 4010 gas mule only goes 25 mph. Bought it 10 years ago. 900 hours on it.
Only regret, dealer doesn't knows how to work on fuel injection. Took me 5 years to set it up properly. I love fuel injection, after I got it running properly.
I think 25 mph is plenty fast. Anything faster is dangerous.

Best advice, buy one from a dealer who has trained techs that know how to work them.

Check out service dept. If they have kids working there, run Forest, run. Just my opinion.

I was looking at a gator. Some are only 2 wheel drive.

Look at how big the bed is, how much they can carry, if they have 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel brakes, electric assist steering. Some have carbs, some have fuel injection.
I think the Kubota is the Gold metal winner. Mule is silver or bronze, but affordable.

My father in law has a Kubota RTV-X1100C bought new a couple years ago. Nice unit, but the Diesel engine is noisy, you can only get up to 25 mph on a good day, and when you let off the accelerator hang on because it is like hitting the brakes hard. Otherwise a nice machine

I have a 825i john deere and like it (16000ish miles) not a fan of the diesels for what I do. The neighbor has a kubota he likes it but I can go places he can't.

We have 2 Gator 825's in the family. These are fuel-injected gas engine 4x4 machines. Both have been pretty much trouble-free, and the older one is nearly 10 years old now. They've been used for all the typical farm chores and see lots of use getting in firewood--they're large enough to hold a pretty good load and small enough that you can reach the whole bed when unloading, and the dump bed allows dumping a load and getting more while others pile it. Top speed is around 40 in high range--handy for road running between fields but most of their travel is much slower. We opted for a bench seat instead of the standard buckets. They've been VERY handy rigs--enough towing and hauling capacity to make a useful work rig but enough ride comfort and speed to be fun runabouts also.

I have a kubota and love it. Probably going to trade soon for the 4 seater. The only time I get my truck out is when I need a trailer

Every night when I get home Ive got a 2 year old that wants to go on a bota ride and check the cows

This one really impressed me due to its payload capacity and price. The two rear axles are drivers but not the front.

I don't own either brand but have had dealings with Kowasaki ( hope I spelled that correctly) and Kubota brands from a ranch I worked on. The Kubota was hard to start in the cold without hitting the glow plugs for 10-15 seconds, even in texas. Another Kubota had transmission issues and we're tough to shift which were " known" as a common issue. The Kowasaki started no matter what but the materials to make it,(hood, bed, etc.) were cheaply made. Both had a top speed of 25 mph with the pedal to the floor

I hope you have lots of money; they are priced $10k higher then anything else. When i did the research, nothing was a better value here then honda. dealer support is a big item. honda's were the first with automatic trannies. i'd never buy one with the variable drive belt.

have taken over the market they are not in the top 4 in sales better do some research a lot better and a lot cheaper machines

I don't know where you get that price from. The one I pictured below sells for just a little over $10000. delivered.

Really 10,000$ huh ? The bottom of the line kubota is around 9 and the John Deere is about 11,000 the the deere has twice the towing capacity and twice the cargo carrying capacity on the two I looked at the specs Im sure there is a kubota the same or near the same spec as the John Deere

The kids just traded their Deere for a Honda convertible. 4 doors, but the back seat folds down for more pu bed. THeir first grandbaby(our first great grandbaby) likes to ride, sometimes she even wants mom and dad to go too.

we have two polaris rangers for the produce business. Very good work horses. Go fast, smooth ride, cant get stuck, no problems. They haul almost 50 dozen ears of sweetcorn or 40 watermelons with ease. We have his/hers models because we were always fighting over who had it.

I have several 2 WD, TX Gators. All the later models use the Kawasaki twin engine. They work well and are very reliable, sturdy & have a big box. The TX model is the best bang for the buck unless you need 4 WD and more bells and whistles.

In 2011 My 4010 mule was around $10k. If I ever buy another new UTV, I'll buy a new gold metal Kubota because of Kubota's service department.

We have a 835R Gator. Drive it for coffee every morning. Have a 65 gallon spray tank in bed. One 25 ft spray tip. Gps light bar. Spray our little hay fields. And spot spray beans. It will go 45 mph. Then hits a electronic cut out. Is a little pickup air heat roll up windows. Sun visors radio. Dash is angled to hold things. 6 cup holders. Big bin under right seat. My grand daughter can hide in it. East to get in and out. My son has a kubota diesel. Cab air etc. Good vehicle but just goes 23 mph.
