Norma Jean Mortenson died. That's Marilyn Monroe y'all. That broke several teenage hearts, including mine.
 
Doubtful. One theory, not mine, is the Kennedys were involved in her demise because she knew too much. (pillow talk)
 
Wow, this is weird. I did not know that. 59 years ago today, my wife was born. Connection?
 
I remember it.
Would have been 9 at the time and my dad had me on the job building a house - kid work; picking up scraps, sweeping, fetching nails, tools, etc.
Dad always had a radio blaring on the job and they announced it on the news.
Dad and his 2 hired men stopped and talked about her for a minute then went back to work. She didn't mean anything to me but I knew she was a famous movie star.
 
Better hope your wife doesn't read this. We're all getting up there and she might not appreciate the slight to older women. Lol
 
If I was 90 and Marilyn was 90, I think I'd be pretty flattered if she even looked at me.

It slays me when old guys see a good looking woman and say 'Boy, if I was single.'. I have to say 'Ya, if you were single, you'd be a lonely old man. A woman like that would never look at you twice.'. LOL
 
It's weird how I remember that.

A buddy of mine and I had a trailer house on the beach at Atlantic Beach, NC and I heard it on my car radio as I was driving up to the trailer.
 
About the earliest commercial movie I went to was River of No Return, in Canton, SD. Didn't know a thing
about movie stars or Hollywood at the time. I still remember the kid with the bullet holes in his bucket.

Many years later, when you had to walk on egg-shells, an especially attractive co-worker asked me if I
thought MM was pretty. I had to stop and wonder what trap I was walking into. I finally said, I did. I
didn't expand on the subject, but I guess it didn't matter. She was probably just trying to figure out
something.
 
CDMN ..... great movie, Robert Mitchum and Rory Calhoun also starred. A lot of the filming was done in two of Alberta's National Parks ..... Jasper and Banff in the Rockies.
