head gasket direction

( Also posted in JD forum) I ordered a head gasket for my John Deere B. It has a copper side and a silver (tin??) side. All the manuals say to install the smooth side toward block
but I cant see that either side is smoother than the other. The copper is folded over on some holes and the tin is folded over on the other
holes. Which side should face which direction? Also should I use silver paint or the spray on copper sealer or just dip in oil like the
original directions say?

Thanks for all the help!

Head gasket, figure out which side goes where, and keep track, then spray both sides KW copper coat, will seal great.. Remember to run--heat up-- and retorque..

From a JD service bulletin:

MSD; What is the year and number of that service bulletin?? Is it from an older series or later years that Deere was using..
